"QUICK BITE"
Min Pins originated in Germany and were primarily used to hunt rats. A common misconception is that they are a pint sized version of the Doberman Pinscher and are not. They can grow to 12 inches tall, weigh about 8 to 10 pounds and live to 15 years of age. They have a sweet temprement and are typically good with children and other pets. Min Pins are a very healthy breed with little to worry about. They make good watchdogs and have a "Big Dog" attitude. This is an energetic breed and not the best choice for an elderly person. They are animated and full of character!

King of the Toy Dogs

By: Tony Rogers

Originally, Min Pins were bred to hunt vermin, especially rats. In its native Germany, the dog is known as the Zwergpinscher. Pinschers are a classification of dogs bred as guardians or to hunt vermin. Zwerg, in German, means Dwarf or Midget. The Mini Pin is also known as the "King of the Toy Dogs."

Min Pins are not related to the Doberman Pinscher as people often mistakenly believe. They are an older breed developed from terriers and the German Pinscher. Min PIns typically stand about 10 to 12 inches tall and weigh about 8 to 10 pounds. They live to a good age of about 15 years. These dogs don't need a lot of exercise. They are good apartment dogs.

If considering a Min Pin for a pet, things to consider. This dog is full of energy, fierce with a Big Dog attitude. Yet, sweet and very loyal to their owner. Mi Pins are fine watchdogs! They are typically good with other pets and children. They are easy to groom and an average shedding dog. This is a very healthy breed with little to worry about like some other breeds. They don't do well with the cold weather.

Min Pins are a bundle of energy and very animated! An elderly person would not be the best candidate for this dog. You need to have energy and patience to keep up with this little fireball. Interact with a Min Pin and you just might be hooked!
